The State of New Mexico, Department of Cultural Affairs, is accepting bids for a contractor to provide living history programming, on-site at a facility with historic structures and costumed interpreters.

History

EL Rancho de las Golondrinas is New Mexico’s only Living History Museum. It is a private non-profit museum on 500 acres, with 34 historic buildings, 10 modem museum structures, agricultural fields, an animal husbandry program, an artifact collection of over 3,000 pieces, plus 14 full-time and 25 part-time staff, and a core group of 100 volunteers.

EL Rancho de las Golondrinas focuses on the everyday lives of New Mexicans in the Spanish, Mexican and Territorial periods. It shares this history through the interpretation of this cultural landscape, its buildings and traditions. As a living history museum, guests come to not only see the real thing but to experience the real thing. Guests can learn about and take part in tin stamping, hide tanning, rope making, historic food preparation, ristra stringing, and archaeological excavations and can even learn how to run our grist mills.

Scope of Work

The contractor shall provide living history programming on-site at a facility with historic structures and costumed interpreters. The contractor will educate the public and students about life and common activities of the 18th and 19th centuries including hands-on demonstrations and participant activities
