The State of Illinois, Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), will accept bids from responsible Bidders for the operation of a concession building and boat rental at Silver Springs State Fish & Wildlife Area located in Kendall, Illinois.

Scope of Work

The concessionaire at Silver Springs State Fish & Wildlife Area will be authorized to sell, serve or dispense some but not limited to the following items:

• food
• confections
• hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages (no glass allowed)
• souvenirs and novelties
• newspapers
• postcards
• boating equipment
• bait
• state hunting and fishing stamps
• picnic and camping supplies
• bagged ice

The concessionaire will also offer various activities such as hiking, yoga, meditation and wellness classes. Concessionaires can also have soda, snack and bait vending machines. Also, the sale of firewood is not allowed.  In addition, the concession is authorized to rent non-motorized boats, canoes, peddle boats, kayaks, paddle boards, inner tubes & bicycles, cross-country skis and ice fishing supplies.

 If the vendor chooses to sell state hunting and fishing stamps, then the vendor shall become a licensed vendor with IDNR for the sale of these items. In addition, the concessionaire will be authorized to set up a food stand by the office, campground, and other locations as long as the food stand location and dates are pre-approved by the Site Superintendent.
